After that, keep looking because I have a bunch of shots of them playing in the yard.

There will be one more group photo next week and then these guys can go home.

10-10-2010

44 days old now.

I would like to take this time to explain why I have been a bit lax on the photo updates.

About 4 weeks ago, my youngest son (18) was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

In these last 3 weeks, he has undergone 2 major surgeries.

In 3 more weeks, he will start the 1st of two scheduled chemo treatments.

Each 'treatment' consists of several 'sessions'.

As you can understand, this has taken top priority in our lives and the puppies have not been 1st and foremost on my mind.

The pups are doing great.  1st vet check is now behind us and they will be ready to go home in about 3 more weeks.

For those of you with 1st pick.

It's time to choose.

Meg in Nebraska, I need to know which girl you want.

I have emailed you with my recommendation.

Zoe in Solon, Ohio, you are welcome to visit us to choose your boy anytime this week or this coming weekend or if you already know which boy you want, just shoot me an email.

Please remember, you have 1st pick of the sex you requested but there is someone with 2nd pick that can't wait to know how you will choose.

I will start this week with the girls.

Each pup is now sporting an ID collar.

The collars will stay on the pups until you come to take them home.

Girl #1

This is the girl that had the cloudy eye.

We have had her on eye-drop antibiotics the entire time and her eye has improved drastically.

There is still some cloudiness but it has almost cleared up.

My vet thinks she will be fine although there is a slim chance she will always have a little bit of cloudiness there.

She can see just fine.

If I had 1st pick.  This would be my pick.

She has the best color and a great personality.

The eye problem was a result of an infection before she opened her eyes, it is not genetic.

In this close up, you can see the cloudy eye. The flash really makes it show a lot more than it is.

You would be hard pressed to spot her by her eye if you saw her and her sister together in person.

Girl #2

This girl is beautiful.  She is spunky and playful.

She isn't quite as dark as her sister above.

If you don't want to deal with girl #1 because of her eye, then this is the girl to take with 1st pick.

Girl #3

She is a ham.  Maybe alpha pup but it's still a bit too early to tell.

She is the lightest color of the girls.

The Boys

Boy #1

He is a bit shyer than any of his sisters but he warms up quick.

His color is amazing.   He is almost a dead-ringer for his daddy, Copper-Top.

If I were picking 1st, this would be my new boy.

Boy #2

This pup is the most outgoing of the boys.

I still think the alpha will be one of his sisters though.

He is lighter in color than boy #1 but still has a nice red color.

Boy #3

As of right now, this is the shyest pup in the litter.

Having said that, he was very animated and playful after he warmed up to me and the camera.

It's still very early for me to try to pinpoint an alpha and a shy pup.

These guys have only been weaned for about a week.  Personalities are just starting to emerge.

Don't be surprised if I totally change my mind about who is alpha after a couple more weeks.

None of the pups are so shy they won't come to you.  None of the pups cower.

bark!

09-25-2010

28 days old on these shots taken yesterday.

They are growing fast and they have started to investigate Mom's food dish.

They should be pretty much weaned by this time next week.

The Boys

These are in no order other than Darkest to lightest.

Next week each puppy will have a special ID collar so there will be no confusion.

All shots were taken outdoors under available light (no flash)

Boy #1

Boy #2

Boy #3

The Girls

Again, darkest to lightest although Girl #1 and #2 are pretty much the exact same shade.

Girl #1 has a cloudy right eye.

I have taken her to the vet and he says there is no ulcer or cataract and he thinks that she does have vision in the eye.

He believes this is because of an infection and has prescribed antibiotics.

She is happy and healthy otherwise.

Girl #2

Girl #3

woof!
